Students will gain a profound understanding of colour, unlocking its expressive potential and discovering the art of crafting, provoking and pleasing colour schemes.
Throughout the course, we'll build on fundamental art concepts, diving into the intricacies of value, depth, composition, and the essential elements and principles of art. Through knowledge, practice, and experimentation, you'll harness the power of colour to create captivating and dynamic pieces. Drawing inspiration from some of the 20th-century masters, such as Han Hofmann, Henri Matisse, Josef Albers, and Mark Rothko, we'll study their techniques and applications, exploring how they mastered the use of colour.
The exploration of colour will be applied practically through the execution of paintings, one-on-one feedback with the instructor and lecture seminars, where you'll receive valuable and historical insight that will enrich your theoretical and conceptual outlook on the subject. By the end of the course, you'll not only have gained vast knowledge of colour theory, but also developed a keen eye for colour harmony and the ability to wield colour with intention and finesse. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this course will empower you to infuse your artworks with a vibrant, emotive, and contemporary edge.
