Drawing & Painting: Portfolio Preparation (Grades 8-12)
Outline
*No class October 9
This course is for all the young artists who wish to further develop their artistic skills at any stage of their practice. Whether it is for fun, extracurriculars or to build a portfolio for school submission, this camp is rooted in providing a setting for students to absorb the fundamentals, principles and methodologies in visual art. Ranging from drawing, painting and mixed media elements, this will be an opportunity for young creators to understand and explore these concepts with a visually trained eye, allowing for their own creativity to shine through. Designed to enable and encourage students to develop a high-quality visual art portfolio, the opportunities are endless, leading to the preparation of enrollment into an arts program or for personal use. Upon the total completion of the Portfolio Preparation, students will be able to demonstrate:
- An understanding and awareness of foundational theoretical and practical skills in art
- A variety of work that displays knowledge and experimentation of mark making in relation to various media and surfaces
- Expression and experimentation through visual language while thinking about, line, colour, shape, weight, scale
- An understanding and experience in using a range of materials, their individual effects in mark making and how we can use these tools to elicit a certain feeling
