Watercolour Landscapes

Watercolour Landscapes

Watercolour is a beautiful medium that invites us to balance our desire to control with our desire to let go. From exploring techniques that allow for abstract qualities to understanding how to control the pigment for intentional line and detail, the artist and pigment work in collaboration, building depth in layers and washes of colour. This course is suitable for beginners or those with some experience that wish to explore landscape painting in more depth, using various tools, methods and application techniques in watercolour. In this course, you’ll solidify your understanding of basic technique while deepening your ability to translate what you see in the landscape. Over the span of eight weeks, students will experiment with various terrains, atmospheres and natural elements that can be so beautifully expressed in watercolour. Students will learn how and when to depict with a more realistic approach, and when it may serve one’s painting to lean into abstraction. Discover the meditational qualities of painting while introducing and expanding your knowledge of watercolour painting capabilities as they pertain to the landscape.
