Embark on a journey of artistic exploration as we delve into the captivating world of watercolour cityscapes. Led by a skilled and thoughtful watercolour artist, this virtual course will inspire you to observe the urban landscape through watercolour.

Throughout the course, you will learn the art of working with watercolour pigments, honing your brush handling techniques to achieve fluid, detailed and transparent effects. From urban streets to architectural horizons, you'll immerse yourself in cityscapes, learning to capture their essence on paper. Specific aspects will include light, darkness reflection, colour and capturing a feeling.

With personalized guidance and engaging virtual sessions, students will create captivating compositions and perspectives that bring depth and life to your cityscape artworks.

This course is best suited for beginners to intermediate.

● Watercolour Paints - tubes: required colours: cobalt blue, french ultramarine, cerulean blue, burnt sienna/umber, raw umber, cadmium red/yellow, yellow ochre, Payne's grey or neural tint, violet/purple or crimson. Chinese white or gouache white tube for highlights.
● Folding plastic palette for mixing colours and tube paints or pans ● Round watercolour brushes: #4, #6/8, #10/12
● Flat watercolour brushes: 1” or 1/2” flat brush
● Large mop/quill brush for large washes
● 9x12” 100% cotton, 300gsm acid free watercolour block (100% cotton is the most important thing - Strathmore, Fabriano, Winsor Cotman) Saunders waterford, Arches or Baohong watercolor paper recommended.
● Masking Fluid
● Pencils (3H or 4H) ● Pencil Sharpener ● Roll of paper towel ● Rag
● Water container
● Small sponge (sea silk preferred)
● Salt
● Plain sketchbook (can be small, quality doesn’t matter) ● Palette knife
● Spray bottle (with water inside)
● Hair dryer (optional)
● Tape (masking/washi/artist’s tape etc)

To participate in one of our virtual classes, you will require the following: A computer (laptop or desktop, with an internal microphone and camera) OR a newer model iPad, Tablet, iPhone or Smart Phone. Please make sure that you have hands-free capability, using a stand or tripod A stable WIFI connection The Zoom application (free when you sign up) Materials for the class that you registered for (see individual material lists provided for each class) A quiet work area for creating and participating in your class
