This March Break, Avenue Road Arts School invites young artists of all ages to explore their creativity through immersive, inspiring art camps designed to nurture talent and foster a love for artistic expression, taking place at The Mabin School - 50 Poplar Plains Road.

JK - Grade 4: Dream Big: Art Inspired by the World
Young artists will explore the beauty of our world through exciting mixed-media projects inspired by cultures, nature, and art-making from around the globe. Creativity, storytelling, and hands-on fun combine to spark curiosity and celebrate diversity.

Grade 5 - 9: Innovators in Art: Mixed Media Expressions
Older campers will push artistic boundaries, experimenting with mixed media, sculptural art, and bold new techniques. This camp inspires personal expression and creative storytelling while encouraging fresh perspectives and innovative thinking.

Dream Big: Art Inspired by the World

In this camp, young artists will embark on a journey across continents, exploring the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and rich traditions that make our world extraordinary. Each day introduces a new cultural theme, inspiring campers to create mixed-media art projects that celebrate diversity and foster empathy. Through storytelling, drawing, painting, mixed media, and hands-on activities, campers will learn to appreciate the beauty of different perspectives while expressing their own creativity.

Morning Session (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Focus on Individual Creativity
1. Check-In and Warm-Up (9:00–9:15 AM)
  - Welcome activity: quick doodling prompts, brainstorming, or an art-based game to energize the group.
2. Creative Workshop: Part 1 (9:15–10:30 AM)
  - Introduction to the day’s theme and techniques.
  - Students work on the foundational aspects of their individual projects.
3. Snack Break and Social Time (10:30–10:45 AM)
  - Opportunity for kids to connect and recharge with their snack.
4. Creative Workshop: Part 2 (10:45–12:00 PM)
  - Building on the morning’s work with added complexity or detail.
Lunch and Recreation Break (12:00–1:00 PM)
- Supervised play or indoor games, fostering collaboration and free expression.
Afternoon Session (1:00 – 4:00 PM): Collaboration and Experimentation
1. Group Brainstorm and Art Exploration (1:00–1:15 PM)
  - Quick team activity to introduce the afternoon focus, often tied to collaboration or experimental techniques.
2. Art Project and Techniques (1:15–2:30 PM)
  - Work on project
  - Opportunities to explore new materials or multimedia approaches.
3. Snack Break and Relaxation (2:30–2:45 PM)
4. Showcase and Wrap-Up (2:45–4:00 PM)
  - Finishing touches on the day’s projects.
  - Group discussion to reflect on the creative process.

This camp empowers young creators to push the boundaries of traditional art through painting, drawing, sculptural art, and mixed media. Campers will experiment with textures, layers, and unconventional materials to create thought-provoking works that tell compelling stories, display technical use of media and display their artistic vision. Projects are centered on themes of community, personal identity, storytelling, the world around us, fostering both individual expression and collaborative creativity.
The camp encourages participants to reflect on their surroundings and explore innovative approaches to art-making, preparing them to think critically and confidently share their unique vision through fun and creativity.
