Avenue Road Arts School is honoured to present "Journeys," an exhibition that explores the narratives that define us as individuals and as a community. Each piece in this exhibition reflects the personal paths taken by our artists, highlighting growth, transformation, and connection. Opening on October 5th at Youngplace, "Journeys"coincides with ArtHubs very own Nuit blanche exhibition featuring Paula Hartmann's "Invisible Currents," an installation of sculptures that invites reflection on unseen connections and the illusion of distance. This evening offers a night of artistic discovery and observation into the interconnectedness of our lives through art.

Words from our Creative Director

"Avenue Road Arts School presents its 2024 Faculty and Student Exhibition, ‘Journeys’. This year’s exhibition acknowledges the personal and collective narratives of our diverse community that defines and connects us. ‘Journeys’ delves into the tapestry of our personal and artistic paths, being observant to the evolution of our artistic expression but also the unique journeys that bring us to art and to a sense of togetherness. Through these individual stories, we weave ourselves into a larger community, creating a vibrant mosaic of creativity and connection.

Rooted in ARAS’s mission to inspire and nurture creativity across all ages, ‘Journeys’ invites viewers to explore the diverse narratives expressed through various mediums, from drawing, painting and sculpture to photography and mixed media. This celebration of diversity and inclusivity reflects the wide range of creative expression within our community and highlights the interconnectedness of our experiences.

ARAS itself has a story—a journey of fostering artistic growth in a supportive and inclusive environment. Through "Journeys," we not only honour the paths of our artists but also celebrate the school’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a lifelong appreciation for the arts for everyone."

‘Journeys’ opens on October 5, 2024 at Youngplace [180 Shaw St, Toronto, ON M6J 2W5] and runs until October 12th. The opening reception will take place Saturday October 5th from 7pm - 10pm.
