"Painting the Diptych," is a two-day workshop where students will explore the concept of diptychs—artworks consisting of two pieces that are designed to be presented together as a unified expression. This workshop invites you to delve into the relationships between your paintings, examining how they can interact, complement, and enhance one another.
Throughout the workshop, you will engage with key elements of art, including composition, colour, line, shape, weight, and pattern. Guided by ARAS’s Creative Director, Evan Hutchinson, you will create two interconnected pieces that foster a harmonious relationship. Students will learn how to balance visual elements and themes, allowing each painting to inform and enrich the other. This exploration of duality will not only deepen your understanding of artistic relationships but also encourage a more profound expression of your creative vision.
