WHAT IS THE VANISHING POINT?
A vanishing point, also called a point of convergence, is the spot on the horizon line where the objects appear to diminish and are no longer visible to our eye. In art, this helps to create images that look three-dimensional.
Take a look around your room. Some objects look closer, and some objects look further away. If you were to stand in the middle of the road, you would see the vanishing point at the center as the road stretched far away, which makes it look like the sides of the road are intersecting.
The center point in one-point perspective then becomes the vanishing point. When drawing, you will use this point for all of your diagonal or orthogonal lines, and this is what gives the drawing perspective.
Some images have multiple perspectives for an artist to keep track of to make the work feel more realistic.
