The Science of Art: Exploring STEAM for Young Creatives
(Ages 6-12)
In this exciting STEAM-focused course, young artists (ages 6 – 12) will explore the intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through hands-on visual art projects that spark their imagination and creativity.
Each week, students will dive into new topics including: the science of colour; biodiversity and ecosystems; engineering simple machines; geometry and mathematics in art and nature; and harnessing the power of light to make images. This course fosters curiosity, problem-solving, and a love for learning as students uncover how math and science shape the world of art.
With an emphasis on creativity, hands-on experiments, and problem-solving, this course provides a fun, dynamic environment for youth to explore and create while gaining a deeper understanding of the connections between the arts and the sciences.
Class Materials: As some of the projects will include paint, glue, and other art materials , please ensure students attend class wearing clothing that they can get dirty (please note: aprons will be provided).
