The Performance Lab: Acting, Improv & Modern Character (Grades 6 – 8)

The Performance Lab is a dynamic re-introduction to the stage, specifically tailored for the energy and curiosity of youth students Grades 6-8. Led by the acclaimed Allison Beula, this course moves beyond the basics into the “how” and “why” of performance. We combine the fast-paced wit of improvisation with the foundational skills of scene studies and character development through games and exercises.

In this workshop-style environment, students are encouraged to take risks and experiment with different performance styles, from contemporary comedy to dramatic storytelling. While the atmosphere is light and social, the skill-building is real: students will develop an “actor’s toolkit” involving vocal projection, emotional range, physical expression, and the ability to think critically on their feet. It’s a supportive, collaborative community where you can step out of your comfort zone, sharpen your instincts, and discover the power of your own voice.
