Figure in the Imaginary Landscape: Drawing & Painting from the Model
Join us for an exclusive one-day intensive, Figure in the Imaginary Landscape, led by celebrated artist Sadko Hadzihasanovic. This workshop provides the guidance of Sadko’s unique methodology, where the traditional study of the life model serves as the foundation for a contemporary, conceptual narrative. Participants will work directly from a live model, practicing the fundamentals of anatomy and likeness while simultaneously learning to weave those observations into a personal “imaginary landscape.” Through the choice of drawing and / or painting, you will explore how the manipulation of media and imagery can transform a portrait into a vehicle for complex emotion and thought.
- Synthesize Observation and Imagination: Learn to place the live model within a fictional or conceptual environment to create a compelling visual narrative.
- Anatomical Presence: Refine your ability to capture the physical weight, proportions, and likeness of the human form with precision.
- Develop Emotional Depth: Explore techniques for using gesture, light, and mark-making to portray the “inner workings” of a subject’s psyche.
- Adopt Professional Workflows: Gain insight into Sadko’s specific techniques, from initial sketches to the final integration of mixed media elements.
- Expand Media Literacy: Experiment with how different drawing and painting materials can be layered to enhance the story behind a portrait.
- Navigate Contemporary Portraiture: Understand how to move beyond traditional representation toward a more personal and conceptually driven figurative style.
