Procreate Portal: Painting Your Own Reality (Ages 14+) (In Person)
Where traditional technique meets the digital frontier. Led by artist Frannie Potts, this workshop is for students ready to translate their artistic vision into the Procreate ecosystem. Rather than a simple software walkthrough, this session focuses on Procreate as a versatile tool for diverse paths, including digital painting, design and concept art. Participants will dive into rendering, custom brush creation, and layer management, gaining the technical fluency needed to create artwork that thrives in both the gallery and the digital realm.
- Navigate the Procreate Interface: Explore the gestures, menus, and hidden shortcuts for an efficient digital workflow.
- Understand Layer Hierarchy: Learn to use layers, blending modes, and clipping masks to build complex, editable compositions.
- Utilize Digital Brushwork: Explore the brush library and learn to customize pressure sensitivity and stabilization for precise line work.
- Understand Advanced Selection Tools: Practice using the selection and transform tools to manipulate and refine specific elements of an illustration.
- Apply Digital Colour Theory: Leverage digital colour palettes, harmony tools, and gradients to create vibrant, balanced visuals.
- Export and Optimization: Learn the technical requirements for saving files for different platforms, including print-ready PDFs and social media-optimized formats.
