This art activity is for children and inspired by the stunning designs of Egyptian art and artisans work of over 3000 years ago. Children can create their own decorative headpiece using the elements of art & design such as lines, shapes, colours. They will also use the principle of repetition and rhythm in pattern designs for their self portrait.

Ask the following questions:

  • Why do you think King Tutankhamun had so many treasures buried with him?
  • Who made these treasures? How do you think they were made 3000 years ago? How is that different than today?
  • Are there any treasures and furniture you recognize? Look around your home.
  • How are they different or the similar to what you have at home today?
  • Would everyone have lived like a pharaoh?
