Join us in Sadko's Life Drawing from the Masters as he demonstrates a figure drawing technique based on Auguste Rodin's work. Known primarily for his sculptures, Rodin also believed that his drawings were the foundations of his work.

Born in 1840, François-Auguste-René Rodin is considered one of the founders of modern sculpture. However, Rodin started his journey at the École Impériale Spéciale de Dessin et de Mathématiques where he won several awards for his drawings while studying under Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran. This foundational training allowed him to hone his powers of observation and ability to create from memory, which lended themselves to his future sculptural work like The Age of Bronze (1877). In fact, this piece was so prolific he had to prove to critics that he hadn't used a life cast of his model, but rather relied on his years of thorough study.
