About this course

Watercolour Explorations offers a welcoming, creative studio space for beginners and intermediate students looking to refresh their skills and discover new approaches. Guided by artist Laura Krieger, this course allows you to build a diverse library of techniques and thoughtful approaches in watercolour art.

Throughout the course, Laura will guide you through an engaging range of subject matter, from florals and landscapes to abstract experiments. You will build technical skills by testing versatile methods, controlling water-to-pigment ratios, and playing with unexpected visual textures. Through step-by-step demonstrations, prompts, and personalized feedback, you will expand your artistic toolkit and develop a deeper intuition for the medium.

What you'll learn

  • Expand Your Technique Toolkit: Explore a versatile range of application methods, including wet-on-wet, lifting, masking, resist, and texture applications.
  • Tackle Diverse Subjects: Build confidence rendering varied subject matter.
  • Control Water and Pigment: Refine your ability to manage wash fluidity, control soft versus hard edges, and predict how pigments interact on paper.
  • Mix Clean, Expressive Colours: Learn to create harmonious palettes.
  • Develop Personal Style through Play: Experiment with intuitive mark-making and loose brushwork to discover your unique artistic voice in watercolour.

Leslie Greenbaum · Drawing More Expressively
"I loved all of the exercises — it was very inspiring for me and a fabulous entry into drawing. It was way too short. The four weeks flew by."
