About this course

Join us in a virtual art adventure, “Drawing & Painting Ages 6-13,” designed to ignite creativity and sharpen technical skills in young artists. This comprehensive course offers a strong foundation in both drawing and painting, utilizing easily accessible materials. The journey begins as students learn to “see like an artist” through observational drawing, cultivating an understanding of proportion and perspective. This foundation then seamlessly transitions into painterly explorations, where students will analyze and apply colour theory, developing skills in conveying emotion, depth, texture, pattern, line, and form. They will explore various subject matters, building a dynamic visual vocabulary and a palette that reflects their unique voice, all while encouraging critical thinking and creative problem-solving to bring imaginative ideas to fruition.

What you'll learn

Define and apply fundamental principles of observational drawing.
Cultivate an understanding of proportion and perspective in visual art.
Explore and utilise basic colour theory to create expressive paintings.
Develop skills in translating observations into artistic creations.
Construct original artworks using a variety of drawing and painting materials.
