Expressive Horizons: Essentials in Landscape Painting

Outline

How do we look at the beautiful wonders of the world and capture it uniquely? This class will allow you to explore how to see and depict the world through capturing an essence using various techniques and painterly methods in creating your own landscape compositions. Led by Sam Paonessa, a professional visual artist who focuses on landscape and plein air painting, you will be guided through the essentials of landscape painting. While working from photographs, students will enter the course exploring the pivotal role of colour, colour mixing, composition, line, perspective, form, texture, scale, brush and palette knife techniques, contrast and sense of depth. With demonstrations, plenty of individual attention, group critique and the encouragement of individual artistic expression will develop your personal style and creativity.

Students can choose to paint in either oils or acrylics. This course is suitable for students of all levels and experience.
