Join mixed media artist Farida Zaman for an engaging one-day workshop titled "Abstraction Through Collage." As an accomplished author, illustrator, designer, and painter with experience working for a diverse range of clients worldwide—including agencies, newspapers, magazines, and publishing houses—Farida brings a unique perspective to this dynamic session.
In this workshop, you will gain insight into Farida's innovative process of collaging with painted papers and mixed media embellishments, resulting in bold, colourful, and compositionally pleasing artworks. Students will experiment with different applications of pigment on various papers, exploring cutting and tearing techniques to create unique shapes and textures. The layering of papers will be emphasized to achieve a range of effects, allowing you to play with depth and composition. Focusing on key artistic principles such as colour, line, weight, shape, and composition, you will have the opportunity to explore intuitively through hands-on making. Open to all levels of experience, this workshop offers a supportive environment to delve into abstraction and discover the realm of collage as an artistically freeing and powerful medium.
