Painting in Abstraction
Painting in Abstraction is a six-week virtual course designed to immerse students in the expansive world of abstract painting. This course covers both theoretical and practical knowledge, offering a comprehensive exploration of abstract painting from historical and contemporary perspectives. Under the guidance of an experienced abstract artist, Kirk Sutherland, students will delve into the media, techniques, colour theory, composition, perspective, and creative expression unique to abstract art.
Abstract painting transcends the boundaries of traditional representational art, inviting students to redefine their understanding of painting. Through this course, students will explore the concepts of abstract and intuitive art making, utilizing elements such as line, shape, colour, texture, pattern, and composition. This course encourages experimentation and creativity, allowing students to perceive and interpret their surroundings and inner emotions in expressive and innovative ways.
This course is suited for artists of all levels who are eager to expand their artistic horizons and embrace the freedom of abstract expression.
